To date, the provincial Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program is available to help eligible homeowners, residential tenants, farms, small businesses & charitable organizations when property is damaged by uninsurable disasters. You can apply for DFA in more than one category.

For acceptable claims, the program covers up to 80 per cent of the eligible portion of a claim exceeding $1,000 to a maximum of $300,000 per claim.

PETITION ON EMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

On June 7, 2010, my colleague Fin Donnelly, Member for New Westminster–Coquitlam, British Columbia, introduced a bill in the House of Commons to improve the employment insurance system. Bill C-526, An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act (special benefits), would amend the Employment Insurance Act by extending the maximum period for which special benefits for illness, injury or quarantine may be paid from 15 weeks to 52 weeks. All you have to do is print, sign and mail it. I urge you to sign this petition to send the message to the government that Canadians want change and greater protection.

to amend the Seeds Regulations to require that an analysis of potential harm to export markets be conducted before the sale of any new genetically engineered seed is permitted.
